Protobacillus

Protobacillus is a Brazilian digital art duo comprising graphic designers and motion artists Gustavo Spredemann and Leone Simonetti. They create abstract animated art, particularly organic, psychedelic, bacteria-like looping GIFs and VJ visuals.

They draw inspiration for their work from nature, microscopic life, perception and digital media itself. Their animations often resemble oozing, kaleidoscopic or Petri dish-style organic forms, ranging from fluid and biological to brightly psychedelic and abstract. They have a strong connection to music, producing video clips, concert visuals, projections and VJ packs for live shows.

They have been active for years, gaining recognition on Tumblr around 2016 for their 'face-melting' bacteria-inspired GIFs.
